Coloring methods for fired bricks
Fired bricks are familiar to everyone, and their appearance has not only been applied in many buildings in our daily lives, but also has better appreciation value with the richness of styles and types, thus playing a decorative role. Besides, what else do you know about this type of building material? What the editor wants to share with you in this article is its coloring method.
1. Baking coloring method: This method is to change the atmosphere in the kiln during baking, so that the coloring agent carried in the billet appears in different colors. As in restoring the atmosphere, fired green bricks. The technology of using coal gas or natural gas as fuel and roasting in a reducing atmosphere in tunnel kilns has been successfully used in Western Europe for more than ten years.
2. Applying makeup clay method: Fired brick makeup clay is mainly composed of specific adhesives, fluxing agents, fillers, and coloring agents. Sometimes organic materials are added to the clay as binders to enhance the bonding ability between the clay and the surface layer of the body. The prepared cosmetic soil shall be applied to the damaged surface of the brick by spray, sprinkling, dipping and other methods, and the solid surface of a specific color shall be formed on the surface of the green body after baking.
3. Glazing method: It is to apply a special glaze material suitable for the thermal expansion coefficient of the brick to the damaged surface of the brick, and form a specific colored glaze layer on the surface of the brick by firing.
4. Surface dyeing method: Surface dyeing method refers to immersing the crushed surface of certain fired bricks in a solution of metal salts that can be colored, a few millimeters deep, and forming a strong layer of specific color on the surface after firing. Due to the red tone of the brick itself, this dyeing method has a limited range of colors and can only present the surface of products with dark tones, such as deep red, dark green, brown, black, etc. And this surface dyeing method has certain usage conditions, which are related to the composition of the raw materials in the blank, the density and uniformity of the blank, etc.
5. Surface coating method: This method is to uniformly extrude the prepared surface colored mud material through a special device and attach it to the surface of the billet during the extrusion process of the billet mud strip. The hardness of this coating is generally 5-10mm, and after baking, it forms a strong bonding layer with the damaged body and presents a specific color surface.
6. Surface application of colored sand method: This method involves mixing the coloring agent of fired bricks with sand in advance, and adding a binder to produce colored sand. Spray or press colored sand onto the surface layer of the mud strip. Form a sand decorative surface with a predetermined color. If the hardness of the extruded clay strip is too high, the method of spraying steam or water mist can be used. First, the surface of the clay strip is softened, and then colored sand is sprayed or pressed into the surface layer of the clay strip. After baking, the colored sand forms a strong bonding layer with the surface layer of the billet. By using this method, various color tones of surface decoration effects can be created. In addition, after crushing the waste ceramics, this method can also be used to apply them to the surface of the brick body.
This article shares with you the coloring methods of fired bricks. Different processes have their own characteristics. In practical situations, we need to choose according to the actual situation. Suitable coloring can ensure the quality and appearance of the product. We hope the above content can be helpful to you.
