In our previous article,we talked about how to color fired bricks using a glaze application method. We usually know about glaze, which is commonly used in bowls and plates. In fact, when firing bricks,it is also necessary to use them frequently because the different colored bricks can be reasonably matched during use, resulting in a more beautiful layout. Now let's take a look at how glaze is used.
1.The selection of chemical raw materials for preparing the melting block:Generally, the purity requirements for the borax, alkali surface, and lead lead chemical raw materials needed are relatively high, and the purity of the coloring agent should also be high, because the quality of the melting block can directly affect the quality of the glaze surface of the subsequent product. It is important to pay attention to every process of firing in order to improve the quality of the fired brick melting block.Good melting blocks generally present a transparent glassy state.
2.Preparation of Glaze:Weigh the lead or molten block and raw material according to the determined formula, and then put them into a ball mill for grinding. The ratio of material, ball, and water is generally 1:1.7:0.8,and there are certain requirements for fineness:0.04-0.06%for lead glaze and 0.05-0.12%for molten block glaze. To ensure good fluidity of the glaze and avoid precipitation, electrolyte methyl cellulose can be added.
3.Glazing:Generally,the glazing method used is pouring glaze or immersion glaze. When pouring glaze,be sure to pour it quickly and try to fill the tile surface in one go,which can ensure a smooth and even glaze surface. The specific gravity of glaze should be controlled between 1.5-1.7,and attention should be paid to timely scraping the bottom after glaze application.
Through the process of using glaze for fired bricks described above,it is important to pay attention to achieving one-time molding when pouring glaze during glazing,so that the products produced will also be more aesthetically pleasing.
